Our Dancers Experiences

That’s what you receive from this woman, a professional dance instructor able to impart to others of all ages and ability, in a most uplifting manner, an art form and technique where the dancer is the stuff of which it is made. And let me say that I was not alone in becoming a follower, there were several others who valued Ms. Plettell-Chevrier’s prowess. I have known Vanessa Plettell-Chevrier for 43 years. I came to know her as a skilled, caring, generous, nurturing, talented teacher and professional dancer. Before establishing her own studio in 1988, Vanessa taught locally at a few other dance studios and gymnastics clubs. I was so taken by her ability, knowledge, skill, artistry, showmanship, and genuine caring for others that I followed her so as to benefit from her expertise. I was one of the pioneers of her Jazz classes when her school opened. She made classes fun, had a great sense of humour, which she injected into her choreographies, and honoured each student regardless of skill level, giving them individualized attention, and their own moments in the spotlight at her annual productions, which incorporated dance, theatre, and voice, complete with sets and lights which framed the choreographies and positively influenced the way the movements were perceived. Her students have also performed at various National Capital events. I would be remiss in not mentioning that Ms. Plettell-Chevrier went the extra mile to ensure that scholarships were in place to assist dancers, and many other things she has done quietly over the years to assist her dancers and their families. God knew what He was doing when he placed this vocation in her heart and mind! I can unequivocally recommend Vanessa Plettell Dance Inc. for your dance needs whether it be for recreational dance, intensive, or competitive programs and from children to adults. There are a variety of styles to choose from be it Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus, Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers Jazz and Tap syllabi, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Acro, Tap, and possibly more. Thank you Vanessa Plettell-Chevrier for being a true bright light in the dance world performing, teaching, choreographing, and contributing to our enjoyment of this art. We have been blessed! I heard of this studio through a social media ad and although some of the reviews are negative, I loved the facility and had a really positive experience. I did a few adult drop-in classes and the level of the classes were well suited and the teachers were very professional. The receptionists were very pleasant and helpful with answering my questions. To begin with; the Vanessa Plettell Dance Studio is not a club. The studios are professional state of the art. They are large and air conditioned with high ceilings, sprung floors, wall to wall mirrors, professional bars, and there are no pillars. The studio is run by professionally trained and certified teachers. All students are encouraged irrespective of their dancing abilities. Both our daughters enjoyed their experiences at the school. So much so; that our youngest daughter chose to continue on with her dance instruction at the school throughout her teenage years. She was accepted at AMDA in New York City where she danced professionally for numerous years. The experiences acquired by both my daughters under the direction of Vanessa Plettell has helped them in becoming self-confident in pursuing their various endeavours. My husband and I would highly recommend Vanessa Plettell Dance as an exceptional venue in which your child can grow and thrive through a dance experience provided by professionals. My little cousin loves it there, she has built great relationships with her teachers and always has so much fun. Savanna MaxwellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Parents , please take a look at the reviews * carefully * before bringing your child here. If you notice, 90% “positive” reviews are students past and present who have been asked by the company to boost their club. Besides the look of the studio itself (very sketchy), the teachers are all extremely young , untrained and unprofessional. The owner is unfortunately not able to run a studio leaving under age kids working for low wages and continually putting kids down which affect their mental health in the long run. This is not a place of growth but rather a place of negativity. As a parent who has a very strong knowledge In dance and also works in the industry this is not the place to bring your child. This being said, I will credit their ballet training but not long term, it gives u great ballet training and classical technique but be ready for favouritism bullying unethical behaviour and a toxic environment! I started dancing here a few years ago after my previous studio closed down and I quickly noticed how different it was from anywhere else I’d been to. At Vanessa Plettell, so much effort goes into every single little detail. From the props to adding jewels to costume’s. I remember, at my first recital here my mom had said that it was like nothing she’d seen before and that everything was so well put together. I would definitely recommend it for anyone no matter the amount of dance experience because when I first joined, I definitely wasn’t the best dancer. But this studio made me rediscover my love for dance and it helped me become a stronger and more confident dancer! Alexandra SmithTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. VPD dance studio is an extremely warm and welcoming studio . The students work hard and are all so committed. It’s like being part of an extended family . The end of year show is the best in Ottawa . I would highly recommend this studio to any parents looking for a nurturing environment for their child . We are sad that next year will be our daughters last year as she is graduating high school and will be going away for University. We are so grateful that so many years of her life have been spent at VPD. Thanks to Vanessa and all the staff .
