Meet Your Director

 

VanessaPlettellVanessa Plettell-Chevrier is a classically trained ballet dancer with the Royal Academy of Dance. Raised in Lethbridge Alberta, she was a scholarship student for five years at the Banff School of Fine Arts Summer School and in New York City with Alvin Ailey and Joffrey Ballet.

She was inspired by and gained a wealth of knowledge from many international teachers and professional dancers in various companies including the Royal Winnipeg, National Ballet, and the Royal Ballet (U.K.). Her greatest inspiration came from Eva von Gencsy, co-founder of Les Ballet Jazz de Montreal and whose ballet-jazz classes created a new path in her dance career.

Ms. Plettell went on to dance professionally with The Ottawa Dance Theatre, Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, Canadian Opera Company and for CBC Radio Canada, Radio Quebec, Tele Metropole, Chrysler Canada, the fashion industry, and much more.

Vanessa danced with her own professional Le Jazz Hot Dance Company of Canada for a decade. She performed and presented her choreographies at prestigious shows in the National Capital Region. She still is the artistic director of L.J.H.D.Co a not for profit, registered charitable organization and invites various artists to perform in her year-end Dance Productions and other shows she is invited to do.

Ms. Plettell celebrates into her 33rd year of owning her own dance studio. She continues to nurture young students in classical Ballet and Jazz. Her passion of teaching and choreography has well prepared her students for international exams, competitions and performances.

Her studio has won the first place top score in the Real Dance Competition in 2016, Top Overall Score in the Intermediate and Senior divisions of the Inspire Dance Challenge 2017, Top studio at Kick it Up Dance Competition in 2018 and 2019, and First place studio at Inspire Dance Challenge in 2022, achieving plenty of top scores in the Senior and Intermediate divisions. Her choreography has received the highest score in the entire competition in Ballet-Pointe category. She holds her Majors Advanced Ballet Dance certificate, and received a Distinction on her Teaching certification. She is also a registered member of the International Organization, the Royal Academy of Dance.
