Artistic Director

Vanessa Plettell-Chevrier (A.R.A.D), (ADAPT)             

Vanessa Plettell Chevrier is a classically trained ballet dancer with the Royal Academy of Dance. Raised in Lethbridge Alberta, she was a scholarship student for five years at the Banff School of Fine Arts Summer School and in New York City with Alvin Ailey and Joffrey Ballet. Her passion for teaching and choreography has well prepared her students for exams, competitions and performances. She holds her Major Advanced Ballet Dance Certificate and Teaching Certificate and she is a Registered Member with the Royal Academy of Dance (A.R.A.D.).


Venessa Goulet, Hip Hop

Venessa’s passion for dance started at the age of three, when she began her training at Extravadance Academy. After dancing ballet, jazz, lyrical and hip hop competitively for many years. Venessa decided to direct her energy and love for dance towards teaching young hip hop students in 2008. With her high energy and fun approach, she hopes to build confidence and character within her students. Her goal is to guide them to create and develop their own style and personality. She feels the best is yet to come. Education: B.A. with spec. in Communications at University of Ottawa.

Kim Morrison, Acro, ADAPT Jazz

Kim dances for 16 years, 4 years at Ann Holtz and 12 years at Denise Smith Studio. She danced with Le Jazz Hot Dance Company for 7 years. She was a gymnast for 14 years and then a Beam and Floor choreographer for Springfield College M.A. Women’s Gymnastics Team. She has been teaching dance and gymnastics in the Ottawa area since she was 14 years old. Kim continues to teach dance and gymnastics to stay healthy and happy.

Santina De Marinis, RAD, ADAPT Tap & Jazz

Santina has grown up through the dance ranks of Vanessa Plettell Dance since the age of 6. She passed her ADAPT Intermediate 3 Jazz certification and recently successfully completed her top ballet level of Vocational Advanced 2 Ballet with Royal Academy of Dance. From 2011-2014 she was selected through city auditions for the Nutcracker Production.  She was honoured to be chosen to perform with the prestigious professional Companies, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Alberta ballet (twice) and The American Pennsylvania Ballet Company held at the National Arts Centre.  Not only a talented dancer Santina has also acted in the L.J.H.D.Co and VPD year end dance productions.  Her roles include the Lilac Fairy in Aurora 2017, Tina in Cinderella 2015, and the starring role of Dorothy in ‘Eaze on Down the Road’ (Wizard of Oz)  in VPD”s 25th Anniversary. Santina was excited to play the co-star role of Ellie the 2018 production Lost Diamond.  Miss De Marinis was thrilled to choreograph for her second competition as young choreographer.  She successfully won 1st, 2nd and 3rd Top Scores in the 2018 competitive season and in 2017 her 5 & 6 year olds ‘Cutie’ division won 1st and 2nd Top Scores at the Inspire Competition.  Santina, has been assisting for over the last 6 years under the guidance of various teachers including Ms. Plettell herself. This season she has proudly under taken the position of a teacher for the Creative Dance, Pre-Primary Ballet, Junior Jazz 2 and Youth Teen Ballet and Jazz.

Wendy De Marinis – Administrator

Wendy has been part of the Vanessa Plettell Dance family for 11 years. She comes with over 16 years of experience with a large Ottawa insurance firm, and worked with a small business for 7 years. Wendy is the proud mother of Santina De Marinis who loves to dance and has inspired her to join the “VPD” family. She enjoys working with all the wonderful parents and students and continues to watch the growth of the studio as well as her daughter.
