Good afternoon VPD parents and dancers,
With heavy hearts following the Government of Ontario announcement yesterday afternoon, dance studios are part of Phase 3 re-opening, resulting in us potentially going back into studios at the end of July 2021
Every email I thank you and our dancers for your continued support to VPD. I truly mean it. This has been another challenging year and you have shown up (in-studio and virtually) with smiles and passion. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. We do know that virtual dance classes are not easy. Over the past few weeks parents have reached out expressing their concerns and worries that their dancers are frustrated from virtual classes, we get that, our teachers are also struggling, mental health is so important. Dance is something to embrace, to express yourself and love.
With yesterday’s announcement, I have made the decision to end the dance season, tomorrow, Saturday May 22, 2021. This would finish our fourth week online. Classes will be running as per Zoom schedule tomorrow, May 22, 2021. Stay tuned for an end of the year dance party!
I know you all have many questions and I will try to address some of them now:
Some classes will have credits as a result of shortened virtual classes, cancelled classes etc. These will be calculated against your current account statement and if you have any credits they will be moved over to your 2021-2022 dance season tuition.
For those costumes that have been ordered and from the last dance season 2019-2020, we will arrange a dedicated date and time for your grade to stop by the studio to pick them up as there are no refunds. We will be doing a review on all costumes.
Once we can return safely to the studio (early August 2021), we will continue with the competitive solos and duets practices. As we are still in discussions with the competition organizers, we have limited information to provide you with competitive dates.
Entry fees already paid to the Competitive companies from 2020-2021 will not be credited, however new numbers from this year 2020-2021 will not be charged to the parents until dance season 2021-2022.
Adapt exams will occur in the fall of 2021. Exam fees charged this year will be credited to the next dance season 2021-2022.
For those dancers not returning, discussions on reimbursements can be made, simply send an email to the studio.
Account Statements will be finalized in the coming weeks for dance season 2021-2022.
Again, thank you so much for your continued support. I encourage you not to give up hope. The dance will be back and your child will be incredibly happy! That being said, until the government of Ontario gives us the green light to open, on behalf of the faculty and myself we wish you and your family a safe and healthy summer!
